The curse is broken! For those of us who live in Eau Claire, we've seen restaurant after restaurant start up in a certain building on London Road -- and have a short life span. A pity, really.

National chains, buffets -- it didn't matter. They all lasted less than 2 years. No more. Azul Tequila -- I think people will insist that you stick around.

Mom and I stopped into Azul Tequila after a grueling day of shopping. :) I wasn't sure what to expect because the outdoor sign was a calm blue and cream -- instead of bright colors. Don't worry -- it's awesome.

Inside, the décor is only slightly subdued Mexican décor. Heavily-carved wooden chairs and tables were placed near cheerful yellow or tan walls in the traditional stucco finish. The wall art was nicely done, also. A pressed-tin sign behind the host table featured the restaurant name yet again.

We were ushered to a booth near a window that was flooded with sunlight.

I ordered a combination dinner (#10) because my favorite foods are enchiladas and tamales. The burrito I should have taken home, but ... I ate it all. Very nice. Mild, though, of course, you could spice it up yourself with the hot sauce.

The next time I go, I may have what my mom ordered, though. She had the shrimp quesadilla. Wow! Who knew that it could get this good?

Yes, I tried a small bite of the quesadilla. It was amazingly good. In the past, I've had quesadillas that are virtually smothered in cheese -- this one is not. In fact, it's remarkable.

The shrimp tasted really fresh, and the cheese that it did have was just enough to compliment the fresh tortilla. Even the guacamole was good -- so I assume that it was fresh, too.

Azul Tequila is nice enough on the inside to take a date -- and the food is nice enough that your date will think you're just extra smart for picking a great place. The menu is huge and after that tiny bite of quesadilla -- I'll be trying more.
