Eau Claire Museums
Local History, Logging, Birds, Children's Museum and More!

Wondering what to do with the kids this weekend? Bored with TV? Why not take a trip to one (or more than one) of Eau Claire's museums? You'll find inexpensive and entertaining fun.

Eau Claire has a lovely collection of historical homes. You can see them scattered around the university and all throughout the valley. Explore what it was like for one early Norwegian-American.

Historic homes are amazing links to the past. I love to see the woodwork and furniture. Schlegelmilch House is not only available for tours, but also to rent for private events! Check out the pictures of it on-line.

Love History? We've got the history of logging in full scale. At one time this area led the world in logging. You can walk right into a logging camp dining room. Check out their huge coffee pot!

The people of the Chippewa Valley can be explored at our Chippewa Valley Museum. It's my personal favorite. You'll see information about early Native Americans, later Europeans that settled here, and more current info about our Hmong population. See how people live in different cultures.

Got little kids? Let them run off some energy. The Children's Museum is just for the little tikes. Situated in downtown Eau Claire, it's easy to find.

Bird Watcher? See your feathered friends up close. The preserved birds at our local James Newman Clark Bird Museum allow you to peer mere inches from hundreds of species.

Eau Claire museums -- We've got something for everyone.

Some great history books can be found at my favorite museum.
