Eau Claire Parks:
Ice Skating, Sledding, Hockey Rink
Eau Claire parks like Pinehurst offer some great sledding. This is where I used to sled as a kid.

Pinehurst has got everything you'd need for a great sledding party -- a huge hill, warming shed, ice rink, and hockey rink. What more could you need?
We threw a bunch of warm clothes on, grabbed our dog and some sleds. The day was warm, but I knew that could change when evening came.
When we got there, it was early afternoon. Plenty of parking yet, though that was probably because the warming shed was not yet open.
Have your climbing boots on if you're going to try the sledding hill. There's also a warning that says to sled at your own risk. If you take your sled to the top of this hill, you will be cruising at a high rate of speed by the time you get to the bottom.
If you're new to sledding, don't get the plastic sheet sleds -- they'll spin you around until you don't know what end is up.
Toboggans speed so fast, you'll feel like you're in the Cool Runnings movie. The more people you pack on, the faster you go. For me, this is bad.
I like the long plastic sleds with handles. If they have brakes of some kind, I'm even happier.
By the time our son had clambered up the hill twice, he was worn out. A fun way to exercise -- Eau Claire's gym alternative.
