Eau Claire Restaurants

When I find a favorite Eau Claire restaurant, it's like finding a friend. For years, I've kept my ears open for these gems. And, yes, I've found the 'clunkers' (the ones you never go back to). This page, though is for those great restaurants.

Imagine for a second... you're all dressed up. You've got your favorite date with you. The night is cool, but not too cool. You've got the whole evening to yourself with your special someone.

Opening the door, you walk into soft lights and delicious smells. The clinking of glasses and smiles from the hostess welcome you in. Should you sit by the fire? Have a drink before dinner?

The table for two is topped with homemade bread. The soup was hand-crafted that morning, hot and creamy. The steak is perfectly grilled. To top it off, the entire evening the smiling wait staff has found you at just the right times...

This is my ideal Eau Claire restaurant experience. But, there's also another part of me. Ready?

Imagine with me again... you've got the kids in the back seat... wait. You're on the back of a motorcycle. All morning you (and your sweetie?) have been riding the back roads of Wisconsin. It's a warm summer day. The wind is blowing your hair everywhere.

Pulling up to a tiny restaurant, you run your fingers through your hair quickly. The windows have their blinds drawn against the sun, but when you open the door, great smells smack you upside the head. Suddenly, you're starving.

Little formica tables and worn wooden chairs are neatly arranged. The radio is on and there's a group of people at the counter drinking coffee. A smiling waitress walks up and offers to get you drinks.

Before you leave, you have found the best hamburger in town. Who knew? If you go there a few times, they treat you like family. Call your name when you walk in. They even know you love French fries.

I love this kind of day. Great food and great service, and I'm all set.
