Fanny Hill Inn and Dinner TheaterI recently attended an intimate wedding at Fanny Hill. Whether you're looking for a dinner out, dinner theater, or an intimate event, Fanny Hill may be the place for you. Once again, I was struck with the unique atmosphere that they've cultivated on the hill. It boasts a Victorian style. Fanny Hill Inn and Dinner Theater
The large front porch is painted pink and white -- a harking back to the Victorian era and the history of Fanny Hill. Ironically, for me the most charming spot in Fanny Hill is the front entry. Just inside the front door, you're surrounded by stone walls and a low ceiling that has a very Old World, cozy feel. Fanny Hill has always decorated for the seasons or holidays and this time was no exception. In the little nooks in the entry and near the hosting table, Halloween and harvest decor -- top to bottom. At the bar, I noticed the lovely chandeliers wrapped with garland. You might see the large Teddy bear in the corner, too. He's obviously a loner -- sitting in the corner, he sips his soda. Why do I usually go to Fanny Hill? Two words. Dinner theater. The last time I went, the show was a Roy Orbison impersonator -- and he was good! I was surprised because as a fan, I was skeptical. Today, though, I was at the hill for a wedding. Luckily, even though it was in October, the weather was cooperating. When I walked out back, I found a huge outdoor deck. The backdrop for the bride and groom was spectacular. What a view! The reception room was right off the deck. We had dinner and then danced the night away. The space for the wedding was not huge, but it was just right. The food was really good, too. I have a secret. I know one of the chefs at Fanny Hill. He has never cooked for me personally, though, and it's agonizing. Instead, he teases me by telling me the lovely dishes that he cooks for his family. I guess I have to go to the hill just like anyone else. You aren't going to just stumble across Fanny Hill. It's tucked up in the hills overlooking the river valley. When you get there, though, it's worth it. |
