Fischer's Eau Claire Restaurant Fischer's on the Green
UPDATE: Fischer's has closed.
Fischer's of Eau Claire -- Jan Paul knew that I wanted to go there. He's such a good sweetie, so that's where we went for our anniversary dinner. Honestly, I asked him if he read my mind. :)

He made reservations for 6:30 and I wish we would have gotten there just a bit early. I've been in the lounge/bar area before, and I love the design in there. Leather and dark wood and gorgeous.
Fisher's of Eau Claire is on the Hillcrest Golf & Country Club in Altoona. It's not readily visible from the highway. It does have a large parking lot, though, so it's convenient.
When we entered the restaurant, the hostess was there to guide us to our table. I think we had the best table in the house. Overlooking the golf course, the restaurant is up high so you feel like you're in the treetops. We were right next to one of the huge windows.
The interior of Fischer's Eau Claire restaurant has wood paneling, faux marble columns and one huge silk flower arrangement in the center. Chandeliers sparkle over the tables. I like the classic white tablecloths.
For dinner, I couldn't resist the steak. I ordered ribeye, my favorite. With that, I had hash browns and cottage cheese. Also, my weakness is scallops. Add those.
Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was served in good time, and we enjoyed drinks before supper. (The house Chardonnay is very nice -- buttery).
Steaming popovers soon found their way to our table. My husband loves good baking and soon was asking for another.
The fare was simple and well done. No seasoning on the steak, and it was very flavorful. It was served with steamed broccoli and carrots. Even the cottage cheese was nicely presented with bits of peach tucked around the edge.
When we had finished, we were tempted to have drinks in the lounge, but when the music started I was glad we didn't. It was a bit on the loud side, and we wanted to talk. Luckily, it wasn't too crowded, so we lingered at the table.
If I ever go again, I may try some of the more adventurous meals. Something with sauce and seasoning. Nevertheless, Fischer's of Eau Claire is a treat. The view was beautiful. The company and conversation top notch.
Fischer's of Eau Claire is on my list of best Eau Claire Restaurants and so is this one...
