The Vegan Update

With all the hubbub, I had to stop into Hahn's Market today. It's out on Eddy Lane. I've seen the ads, seen the Hahn's in Menomonie, and I also saw them at a local convention. They were shocked Shocked! that I hadn't been down to see them. Ok, here I am. :)

If you need more temptation, they're right next to the Dairy Queen.

Meat

Need a rack of ribs? Desperate for bacon-wrapped steak? Hahn's sausages calling you? Okay, I found them.

The meats at Hahn's Market had quite a variety. If you're planning for a special dinner, do stop. You might get inspired. The prices seemed pretty competitive, too.

Cheese

Cheese of all sorts -- this is where you can find a huge assortment. I liked seeing the local Wisconsin cheeses there -- you know they're going to be really good and really fresh.

THE VEGAN UPDATE:

Oh, my goodness, Hahn's, you've outdone yourself.

So, in case you haven't heard, I'm giving the vegan thing a try (and lovin' it). Problem is, the menu changes and where are you supposed to get some of this stuff??

Enter Hahn's. I like to picture this lovely specialty grocery as maybe a friend of my dad's. :) Although he LOVES meat and stuff, he's still got all my Eau Claire vegan goodies there for me. So thoughtful.

Now, he's even got a bulk foods area that IS the biggest and best in the area. (If you want bulk spices, try Mother Nature's Foods). Ahem.

You'll find a lot of organic foods or vegan foods here that you might not find ANYWHERE else in the Chippewa Valley. Trust me. I've looked.

I've found:

• vegan cream cheese
• vital wheat gluten
• fakin' bakin (vegan bacon)
• dried fruit (like my fave bing cherries)
• TVP (textured soy protein)
• black jasmine rice

Put Hahn's Market on your list if you love meat OR if you are vegan. We can all peacefully come together at Hahn's.

AND, if the vegan lifestyle is tempting you like a tempting temptress, you must get the Veganomicon.
