Obsession Chocolates of Eau Claire, WI Obsession's Chocolate Lounge and Café
It's true. I'm obsessed.
Marilynn and I went to lunch at Obsession Chocolates in Eau Claire yesterday. Yum.
When God gives you a parking spot right in front -- yay. I'm starting off charmed.
I got there a few minutes early and snagged a table for two by the window. Big, huge windows which is especially nice when it's a sunny day. A cup of their coffee keeps me warm and happy so I can peruse their new décor.
*Applause* One of the things I love
about Obsession Chocolates is the huge 12' ceiling, painted tin ceiling tiles and that gorgeous shade of turquoise on the walls. The other walls are a mocha color, but let me tell you, the turquoise makes it.
AND, since the last time I was there, they changed up their décor a bit. Larger pieces, oh, thank heaven. If you have a 12' ceiling and all that wall space, do something with it! Go big! (and they have).
The only thing they could change would be if they would let me in there to make some more design changes. That's only cause it's just so awesome. You ever get a beautiful space and think, "That! I could design in." So, do I.
My dilemma of the day -- I've gone vegan. Oh, yes, I have. I don't have anything against chicken or cheese, but I do have something against all this weight creeping up on me. Plus, I feel better, so there's something to that.
What to eat? Marilynn ordered what I had last time -- smoked turkey with gorgonzola on a Ciabatta roll. They make the Ciabatta bread right at Obsession! I know, right?!
I love homemade bread. This could be the best thing at Obsession besides the chocolate.
Now, they were out of the veggie burger that I wanted (the vegan one), but they had a California wrap which was all veggies. Instead, I went with the walnut veggie burger that had some cheese in it. I just was in the mood for a veggie burger, I guess.
No, my vegan thing is not too strict, as you can tell.
Coffee -- perfect and rich. Servers -- happy and helpful folks.
At the end, we also ended up trying a truffle. Orange cream or something. This is another reason that I love Obsession -- who has room for a huge dessert? (Not me). So, you can just have a bite-sized delectable chocolate.
There is a whole, big, beautiful, glass case full of chocolates. There was even chocolates in the shape of cups and they called them cappuccino cups or something. Fun, right? So cute.
If you are obsessed about the chocolate, sit down. They have a chocolate menu right at the table. You can see cute little pictures of their truffles like 'Forbidden Passion Fruit' or 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. If you're hand-selecting pieces for a gift, this is the way to go.
If you stop at Obsession Chocolates, stop in for lunch and try a truffle.
And Another Thing...
Almost every time I go to Obsession, I see it as an opportunity to stop at the Janet Carson Gallery -- just a quick little walk around the corner. It's next to the
State Theatre.
Today, after we stopped at the gallery, I drove up the road and went to look at the art at the
Eau Claire public library
, too. Most of it is on the second floor, so if you go, make sure to climb the stairs or take the elevator to the second floor.
The Young Adult section on the second floor had a great art display by a younger artist, and I think he was my favorite artist of the day.
