Pad Thai Restaurant Eau Claire, WI
Pad Thai is an unassuming little restaurant in downtown Eau Claire. It's just the type of restaurant that I would love to visit were I traveling through the area. Honestly -- because the locals obviously go here.
Until now, I've never had Thai food. To tell the truth, though, I didn't dwell on it much. I wasn't going to let images of flames shooting out of my mouth deter me from a restaurant adventure.

My son and I took the challenge and ventured here for lunch on a Saturday. Despite how busy it looked, we managed to find a small table in the back. The brick red walls were a back drop for a shuffle of tables in front of huge windows that overlook the street.
After sitting for a few minutes, someone got us some ice water -- which I was to find out is critical for dining here. :) A prerequisite.
We got a little assistance from our waiter (could it be the owner?). Another cool thing about dining locally -- so many times the owner and/or the family is working there.
So, we ordered, and it was soon obvious that we were hungry. Warning: If you're dining with a teenager, be prepared. He ordered two appetizers and a dinner. Yikes. I will say that the wrapped shrimp was awesome -- and somewhat addictive.
We also ordered two orders of egg rolls. Now, really, we should have ordered one, but my teenager refused to even consider sharing. It is a rule that I must sample every egg roll in the Chippewa Valley -- so I ordered my own.
My entrée was a dish served with chicken, egg noodles, broccoli, and carrot. When I was there, I could pronounce it -- honestly. I think the number was N2. :)
Luckily, in addition to great appetizers, Pad Thai allows you to specify how hot you want your meal. I ordered medium -- and it had enough heat for me. Consider that you can order 'Very Hot' here and it will be very hot. Very. Extra ice water, please.
Pad Thai, you got my teenager to declare your food 'delicious'. Obviously that deserves it's own reward. Good job. It was -- delicious.
Entrée -- approx. $8 and friendly folks to wait on you. I'll note, though, that when they got busy, the service got a little slow. Prepare to not be in a hurry -- it's good for you.
